Founding Partners

The people behind the business

 

The founding partners, Stefan Selchau-Hansen and Colm Toolan, bring a wide range of B2B and B2C experience to the venture encompassing product management, sales and marketing as well as many years of software project implementation and IT business development.

 

Stefan Selchau-Hansen, founding partnerStefan Selchau-Hansen (35) is an economics graduate of Kiel and Copenhagen Universities. He has gained extensive marketing experience in a number of agencies in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein. In 1997, Selchau-Hansen was part of the founding team at EIP GmbH, which later formed the basis fluxx.com AG, a listed public company.  He served as COO and CEO for a number of fluxx.com subsidiaries. In addition to his role as founding partner in Maltone, Selchau-Hansen is a successful consultant in the area of online marketing and e-commerce. Published work includes articles on Product Management and Branding for Internet products, services and companies, in a variety of standard text books.

 

Colm Toolan, Founding PartnerColm Toolan (48) is a graduate of the School of Architecture at DIT and TCD in Ireland. He has over 20 years of experience in IT business, in a variety of roles from sales & marketing, through project management, business development to product management. He has worked with major international companies, such as Oracle, as well as innovative start-ups and the majority of his experience relates to the introduction of emerging technologies in a variety of industries, within Europe and the US. Toolan is a successful business development and project management consultant in addition to his duties as founding partner in Maltone and is also a regular lecturer at the Technical University in Kiel.

 

The Idea

How Maltone was formed, what we plan to achieve

 

The starting point for the Maltone venture was the desire to apply the founding partners’ knowledge of technology and product management as well as of marketing and markets to the mutual benefit of vendors, re-sellers and end-users. Taking the view that there is a multitude of “solutions in search of a problem” – products which are technically excellent, but which are misaligned to the market’s needs – it was immediately apparent that the combined skills of Selchau-Hansen and Toolan addressed several needs simultaneously:

 

Further consideration confirmed that fact that a holistic view of channel management – from vendor through re-seller to end-user – is a task that no single member of that chain could undertake alone. A wide–ranging set of skills and an objective standpoint are required to add real value.

 

And so Maltone was born, along with the focused aim of Navigating the Channel© for the business gain of all involved parties.
